My husband won’t use bodywash. Only soap. He doesn’t like receiving gifts, so I thought that buying him something I know he likes would be the key.
Except I made the mistake of buying fancy soaps. They aren’t girly, but they are tropical, or minty, or (gasp!) moisturizing.
That’s not what he wants. He wants boring, blue, “squeaky clean” soap. The kind with names like Zest, or Irish Spring.
That’s okay with me, because the fancy soap I bought him from Lush smells amazing, and now it’s all mine. The best kind of gifts are the ones that keep on giving (to me).

I think we’ve already gone over the soap situation at my house: ONLY white Dove soap in the shower, and it has to be foaming hand soap by the sink. Silly, but so cute!

My hubbs is exactly the same. He will actually hold his breath walking by Lush, b/c there are “too many scents” and it gives him a headache.
Progress has been made though. He now washes his face with a very basic Dove moisturizing soap. He didn’t understand why his face would get red and flaky all the time. Because never washing your face would never cause a build up of dead skin, oil, dirt, etc.
It’s a good thing he’s a simple guy. I take up half the shower with all my bottles and potions.

My husband likes body wash, but only the organic simple kind. Weirdly enough, he used to love the Lavender kind (which to me is kind of girly). In the past years though it’s bean Aloe or Tea Tree sent.
I guess he like to take care of himself (he has a separate foaming soap for his face).
I don’t really like the solid soaps much because it leaves residues…

My husband is interesting. He’s willing to try conditioner or body soaps when I tell him that it’ll help with his dry hair or dry skin. But I’m the one that would have him keep his scents as simple as possible.
That little genetic profiling with scents is still important to me and no matter how much cologne or after shave his mother buys him I’d rather he just smell like him.
I also loathe the smell of sandalwood. I don’t know why but it’s just nasty to me.

Oh Jenna I feel your pain. My husband will only shower with a very specific scent of Irish Spring. He also used Old Spice shower gel….. to wash his hair. oh oh and remember the Deb hair gel from junior high? Yeah he uses that too. *sigh* I try to tell him that moisturizing soaps and exfoliating would make the ingrown hairs on his face less unsightly…. but he has yet to really catch on. It is once in a blue moon that I can get him to exfoliate his “itchy face” as I like to call it. I’m working on him, though. We’ve only been married and living together for 5 months…. I have loads of time…. and you do too! We will slowly convert them to smelling pretty and taking better care of their skin. haha.
The one point to his credit (I think) is that he has started using my good hairspray… because it smells like honey and I guess he likes that.

My husband only uses Dial anti bacterial soap. I bought him nicer smelling antibacterial soap that he won’t use. But he loves my hair conditioner. He likes that it smells like mint.

I’ve moved mine from Irish Spring bar soap to Irish Spring body wash. Once I convinced him to try my moisturizing Olay body wash, but it was kind of weird to smell it on him!

My husband used to be the same way, until we found a handmade soap store down the street. We have a Lush in town too, but this place was amazing with a capital UH. Locally owned (woohoo), family run (yippee), completely organic (awesomely-awesomeness) and within walking distance of our house. They don’t have anything that smells super-girly, which we both like, just very natural smells. I’ve even managed to get my out of state family hooked and they order through her website.

I love this post. It reminds me of Tim Allen going “Ughughugh” (I don’t know if I typed that right).
Makes me wonder what quirks I’ll discover about Ryan once we get married.

I got my fiance hooked on Lush! He liked that it came wrapped in butcher paper, weighed by the pound, and helped his dry skin. Maybe if you try the extra-virgin olive oil soap? It’s green, manly scented, and really moisturizing.

My husband will only use Dial. The original, antibacterial orange kind.
Dial eats my skin, so I use Ivory soap like the delicate flower that I am. He tried Ivory for a week or so and determined that it doesn’t get him clean. I guess manly men just need those caustic chemicals or something…

Gosh, does he not have the driest skin? You couldn’t pay me (or Nate) to use soap!

Haha, my fiance LOVES Lush! We have a big bathtub and he *Secretly* likes to take Bubble Baths, so we started getting Bubble Bars & now he’s moved onto other stuff!! He’s really excited about their new shaving cream and the other week he came home with some of their 75% off Christmas boxes “just to try it out…”
Maybe I should be worried if other men don’t like Fruity Soap?

I just bought Lush soap for the first time in years. . . .and my husband LOVES it! And I love him for loving it because he smells soooo good. I’m also pleased that he’s on an organic kick and he’s getting me to stick with eating good
