What are you doing on here? Seriously, stop reading this post and find a way to better celebrate Martin Luther King day. You can come back and finish catching up on the life of That Wife at work tomorrow (don’t deny it, I know most of you are usually getting paid while you read my blog at the office).
This week I’ll be talking about chocolate cake, babies, my husbands affinity for soap, and a few delicious things I’ve been cooking lately.
But for now, I suggest we all relax.
So apparently you are still here reading. Well fine. Go ahead and tell me what you did/are doing with your free day. Or what you wish you were doing. Maybe it will give me some good idea for what we can do for President’s day next month.

I’m wishing I were in Texas. And I’m meeting with a potential client because I didn’t realize it was a holiday. Not like it matters in my life anyway!

I am procrastinating from my studies. I am irritated I work on MLK day (which as a nurse, is considered a holiday- and since we all take turns working holidays- guess who’s turn it is to work tomorrow? Yup. Me.) I am also fairly disappointed, but trying to figure out the ramifications of skipping class on Tuesday morning to watch on television the inauguration of our new President! So here I am procrastinating, bummed, and debating in my mind- how to deal with the next two days.
/ I could really use some chocolate. I bet baking a chocolate cake would help me cope…. =o)

I’m going to class. My silly private Catholic college does not give us the day off. Thankfully, it’s my last semester and the last one I will have to work during.
I wish I could be volunteering tomorrow but it’s only the second week of the semester and I don’t think my professors would like it if I skipped tomorrow.

Ha. Im Australian, and so dont have a holiday for Martin Luther King day and before reading this, didnt even know there was such a thing. However, on Martin Luther King day I went to work from 6.30-3.00, during which I spent most of the day worrying about how expensive home loans are and wondering how my fiance and I will ever progress financially if we have to pay AU $2 000/ month to a bank for 30 years!
If we had Martin Luther King day here Id probably spend the day being a hippie with my fiance, lying in the grass and having a picnic (as long as the temperature didnt get over 30 degrees celcius).

I am at work, of course.
we do not have MLK day off
However, I did have coffee with Shugar Groom this morning, and I def. encouraged our reading of a few MLK speeches:
Of course, I Have a Dream
but as well:
Paul’s Letter to American Christians,
I See The Promised Land
The Birth of a New Nation
and Our God is Marching On
I plan on reading some more through out the day.

I am at work because my job does not give MLK day off… I wish I was at home snuggling with my hubby (who has the day off…)

I’m working…I think that in celebration though, I’ll eat a few bites of my yummy chocolate cake at lunch. Stay tuned!

I just finished pie for breakfast
but I am headed out to phone bank on behalf of a local charity. What better way do honor Dr. King than through community service?

Day off? Hahahaha. I work 7 days/week, every week. Cancer does not stop killing on weekends and national holidays, so why would I ever be allowed to stop researching? I will start off my morning with lab meeting for 2 hours, and then spend the following 8-10 hours trying to dialyze my protein.

We don’t have the day off work today….which is really odd to me considering I live/work in Atlanta! Although I am home from work, but only because I have strep throat

I’m also Canadian- so I’m at work, downloading trial software, making web updates and writing newsletter content. Oh joy.

These are quite possibly the most depressing comments I have ever received. I want people to be celebrating like I am!

I am at work today! Sad! Not even overtime today. Apparently my company doesn’t recognize National Holidays, but we get Pioneer day off? I don’t even know.

We dropped our dog off at the vet for doggie surgery on his eye, went to a smashing breakfast, walked down 5th ave by a snowy Central Park, bought new socks at Saks after stepping in puddles, and went ice skating at the Pond at Bryant Park.
Now I am just trying to stay warm!

I was supposed to work today, but I had a bad reaction to some medication and now I have the stomach flu, so I’m at home. I hope you enjoy your day off!

You are right! I am here at work, getting paid and reading your blog! If I had the day off I would’ve taken my kids to the beach. It’s a lovely day in Los Angeles (82!) How are you celebrating, Jenna?

Ha, I’m wishing I had scheduled Mon/Wed classes so I could be enjoying a day off of classes. I never work on Mondays, so it’s not much change.
I gave you an award on my blog by the way

I’m at work, too
The company I work for is 24/7, so if a holiday happens to fall on my regular working schedule, I still have to work it!

We went to the beach. And actually went in the water. I know I’m a brat for posting that while everyone else is freezing.
Happy Martin Luther King Day!
