Does this story suggest that the 36 hours of light occurred simultaneous to the birth of Jesus?

And was it the light of the “star of Bethlehem” that caused the lightness during the night? Or was the sun truly stopped from going down (similar to the story in Joshua 10 where the sun stopped moving and allowed the Israelites to win a battle)?
